Provide disinfection capacity matching a mega-scale water plant in the South-to-North Water Diversion receiving area.
Huaxian Water Plant in Anyang, Henan Province, is a key water supply node in the receiving area of the South-to-North Water Diversion Middle Route Project, with a daily treatment capacity of 200,000 tons. While the water quality of the Middle Route source is generally good, seasonal algae blooms from open-channel conveyance and the requirement for stable residual chlorine over long-distance pipeline transmission pose continuous operational challenges. The plant needed to ensure disinfection effectiveness while avoiding the safety risks of liquid chlorine transport and storage — placing clear demands on the reliability, safety, and scalability of its disinfection system.
Two 20 kg/h Sodium Hypochlorite Generators — On-site Generation, On-demand Dosing
The project adopted two sodium hypochlorite generators with a single-unit capacity of 20 kg/h, producing disinfectant on-site through salt water electrolysis — with salt and electricity as the only core inputs. This configuration completely eliminated the plant's dependence on purchased sodium hypochlorite transport and storage. Disinfectant is generated and used immediately, effectively avoiding available chlorine decay.
For a large water plant treating 200,000 tons per day, the two systems can operate in parallel at full load to meet peak disinfection demand, or flexibly switch during low-load periods — balancing energy efficiency and equipment lifespan.
Dual Compliance in Safety and Stability for Large Water Plant Disinfection
The system was commissioned in 2022. The on-site generation model transformed the plant's disinfection process from "purchasing chemicals" to "managing raw materials," significantly reducing personnel and community safety risks. Continuous and stable sodium hypochlorite dosing ensured finished water residual chlorine compliance and terminal disinfection in the distribution network, providing reliable protection for drinking water safety in surrounding areas. This project validated the engineering applicability of large-scale sodium hypochlorite generators in mega water plants within the South-to-North Water Diversion receiving area.
Client Testimonial
"Huaxian Water Plant is an important water supply node in the South-to-North Water Diversion receiving area, with a daily treatment capacity of 200,000 tons. The stability of our disinfection system directly affects the water safety of residents across the county. Since we adopted two 20 kg/h sodium hypochlorite generators in 2022, the biggest change is that we finally feel confident — no more worrying about the transport, storage, and available chlorine decay of purchased disinfectant. Salt and water are sourced locally, and disinfectant is generated and used immediately. The equipment has been running stably and reliably to this day, with precise residual chlorine control, providing solid protection for our water supply safety."
